Connect to your inner warrior

Next time you strike a warrior pose (or do it right now!) ask yourself:

What does being a warrior mean to you?
What can this pose cultivate that you need right now?

It could be inner or outer strength, feeling confident or powerful, standing in your own truth, standing up for yourself...  Making a mantra or an affirmation of any word or sentence that resonates with you.  Repeating it to yourself, in present tense, as you stand in your pose.

For example, I am strong or I am confident

Happy practicing! Namaste

"Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life" - B K S Iyengar

This moment.

“Always say “yes” to the present moment.
What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is?
What could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now?
Surrender to what is.
Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you."
- Ekchart Tolle

If you haven't already, I really recommend you to read "The power of now" and "A new earth" by Eckhart Tolle. If you've read them, read them again ;) There's always more to learn, or as he would say, to be reminded of. In his own words, "I cannot tell you any spiritual truth that deep within you don't know already. All I can do is remind you of what you have forgotten."

3 important things yoga has taught me

1. Breathe. This may sound simple and even too obvious, but the breath is everything. By learning how to breathe through the practice on the mat, whatever arises, you cultivate a connection to the breath. Physical sensations, unpleasant situations, thoughts or emotions can be hard to choose, but by developing a deeper understanding of how the breath affects the body and the mind you can learn how to breathe through both inner and outer "obstacles".

2. Trust. Yoga teaches that all you need and all you seek is within you already. Speaking from experience, yoga can reconnect you to trusting yourself, your own personal power and having faith in life itself. Trusting that "obstacles" have a meaning and that everything can be a lesson. Its about choosing perspective. You have the power to be the change, the option to trust the journey and to create your own meaning.

3. Be here now. Yoga is a mindfulness practice; mind, body and soul working together with this moments conditions. Once you realize that all you will ever have is this moment, you can begin to live more fully from a grounded and centered place within. Whenever you notice being caught up in the mind, reliving the past, or chasing an illusion of happiness or fulfillment in the future, you can allow the breath to be your anchor to return to the now.

You can either resist the present moment or accept it for what it is. Opening the heart and the mind to be grateful for what is, rather that upset for what isn't. "Practice and all is coming"
